Interpretation
Helping communities to tell their stories
Interpretation fosters local pride and provides a window-in for visitors. We know that good interpretation adds economic value to small towns. We have developed our in-house skills to cover all aspects at a very high professional standard.
Our skills as landscape architects help with understanding landscape context, community engagement and construction to create interpretation elements which are deeply connected to site. We can develop an overall strategy based on thematic interpretation principles. Then we create an outline, with a central theme for each interpretive element. We determine where to locate each story in the landscape, what medium to use and what the central theme is for each element. This process helps to identify what research is needed so that local community members can gather the right stories, images and material.
Our skills in curation help to find the right stories to tell, ensure they have emotional resonance and tell them in a way that creates a lasting memory. We can write the copy text using modern and engaging techniques. Each sign, website, brochure and display has a clear concept, a focused message and an integrated design.
